For the month of March we are focusing on Marsanne, and April will focus on Viognier.
March – Marsanne
Marsanne is famous for its role in white wines from Hermitage, but it is here in Australia where you will find the largest and oldest single planting in the world. A primary blending grape in white wines of the Rhone Valley (viognier, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne) with 75% of the planted Vines in France. It’s a great alternative to Chardonnay, with aromas and flavours of quince, citrus, Acacia, Asian spices, green tropicals and subtle florals. Rich and fruity, generally wines are dry, medium bodied, with great acid and subtle oak treatment creating wines of complexity and long length. Pairs well with rich shellfish, Asian and citrus dishes.
